Lindsay Lohan has never seemed shy when it comes to showing off her body – after all she posed nude in Playboy last year. But while filming a sex scene for her upcoming movie “The Canyons” with porn star James Deen, she suddenly got demure. Lohan reportedly demanded the 10-man crew strip down to their skivvies while she filmed the scene in order to make her feel more comfortable going topless in front of them. Although the guys weren’t too thrilled with the idea initially, they did eventually give in to the actress. In a photo posted on Facebook, Lohan and Deen are seen lying in bed ... but covered by a sheet. Says her publicist Steve Honig, “The cast and crew have been working with Lindsay to make the film as compelling as possible.”
And Lohan, 26, has apparently been working hard too. Although the actress has been plagued by complaints of arriving late on the sets of both her Lifetime movie “Liz & Dick” and “Glee,” she’s seemingly been prompt for “The Canyons,” which was written by “American Psycho” author Bret Easton Ellis and is about the seedy side of Los Angeles. In a Facebook post, director Paul Schrader praised Lohan after her first week on the job and compared her to past screen legends. “Working with her every day on varied scenes I've been making a mental checklist of classic movie performances she's touched upon,” Schrader wrote last week. “There's has been a lot of Ann Margaret [sic], some Gena Rowlands and Faye Dunaway and of course some bits of Liz Taylor and Monroe as well as a little Rita Hayworth and even Gene Tierney (although the last may be more my creation than hers). Oh yeah, and Angie Dickinson. And Lee Remick. And Shelley Winters...”
But after his glowing review, many Lohan detractors scoffed at Schrader’s words. In a follow-up post this past Sunday, he reiterated his feelings in a spelling-challenged rant. “I read the reactions to my earlier post about Lindsay and other film actresses with curiousity,” he wrote. “Lindsay certainly fires up intense feelings. We pay performers to dance on the edge of the cliff and the closer they dance the more we pay them. Lindsay is one of those performers who dances on the edge and, as such, her performance in The Canyons is reminescent of other actrresses on the edge--Gena Rowlands is the one who most often comes to mind. And, at cliff's edge, she's magnetic. The truth of the tale will be in the work itself. Just wait.”
