Naomi Watts channeled Princess Diana as she recreated the royal’s famous yachting trip with lover Dodi Al Fayed on the set of Caught in Flight this week.
Donning a short blonde wig and colorful swimsuit, Watts, 43, cuddled and kissed her costar as a camera crew captured the moment.
Though Caught in Flight will primarily center around Princess Diana’s romance with heart surgeon Hasnat Khan (played by Lost actor Naveen Andrews), the film will also depict the moments leading up to tragic royal’s untimely death in 1997.
However, despite the uncanny resemblance, Watts admits she was “absolutely terrified” to step into Princess Diana’s shoes.

“She is a part of our history — an incredible woman and fascinating but a tragic ending,” the Australian-raised actress said.
Diana died on August 31, 1997 after being fatally injured in a car crash at the in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris. She was 36.
Watts added, “The film makers came to me, and it’s a good script. It’s very scary, and I kind of wanted to say ‘no’ but I couldn’t.”

According to reports, the Academy Award nominee even moved to London’s Kensington and visited the princess’ favorite hangouts — including The Harbour Club and Beauchamp Place — as part of her research.
Caught in Flight is set to be released in 2013.
